Late for work
Here's a fantastic excuse -
"I was trapped in the toilet. No phone on me. When I tried to open the door, the knob came in my hand. There was nobody in the house. I was waiting for someone to return. Luckily, one of my mates had only gone for a jog, so he returned in an hour and relieved me."
My colleague used it today :-)
since I used to have early morning 5am office, I have used reasons like some relative was serious in ICU, and I was doing night-shift in the hospital :P
