Sleep Glorious Sleep!
Aaaaaah....Sleep.....
It wasn't until recently I realized how much I love to sleep! I never quite cared about it, spent many nights having fun, or studying or brewing mischief or bugging friends over the phone, everything else but sleep. (I know a lot of people doing various other interesting stuff, but i better shut up!) This phase of sleeplessness and developing a nocturnal trait was inevitable for me as a teenager until off late.
Am I growing too fond of sleep, or just showing signs of ageing (argh I hate the word), I am yet to discover, but boy, do I love to relax into a looooong lathargic slumber!
Every minute seems important when the alarm goes off... I can sleep in the train, bus... One day I practically nodded off waiting for the train on a platform!
What amazes me beyond reason is the ability I call as one of the many 'self evolutionary' traits I have developed over time - the ability to sleep but not sleep. Sounds meaningless, but believe me, one has to feel it to understand it.
Its the state where the body is awake, eyes open, body functioning normally like turning pages or watching the indicator, waiting for a train, but the mind is asleep - not diverted attention mind you, the mind draws a blank. That is when you realize, the train you wanted to catch just sped off, or you reached to chapter 10 when really, the last you remember was page 5!!!
The first few times it happened to me, I thought maybe, just for a fraction of a second, I've become cool enough to time-leap! I am not sure I did, or did not, but I sure know I can make up for lost sleep without a couch, pillow or even a bed...
Pat on the back!
